Before we pulled into the church’s parking lot, I knew it was going to be a great field trip. Going to the Greek Orthodox Church was the best experience I’ve ever had. The first thing we saw were vendors around the building trying to sell their products. We went to a room with matryoshkas(dolls) on tables all around the room. There was a man saying that one set of the dolls were 5 generations of his family. Next, we walked into a hallway with pictures of people and certificates on the walls. Then, the girls looked at different clothing items. After that, we went outside. We went to another clothing section and the girls looked at dresses while the boys looked at and tried on male rings. I even got a ring stuck on my finger! After that, a man told us about what kind of church it was and about the ranks and biblical historical figures. When we left the church, we went to eat. We ate Loukoumades, fried dough with honey mixed with syrup and cinnamon mixed with sugar. As soon as we got done eating, they let us play on the inflatables. Finally, we got back on the church van and went back to the Academy. The thing I loved most about the field trip was that we got to learn about the biblical history of the Greek Orthodox Church, and got a chance to taste Greek foods. This was a cheerful and joyous experience. Wouldn't you like to attend this event with us next year when we go again?

My experience at Greek Fest was amazing. From the moment I walked through the entrance, I saw all Greek cultures and traditions. The lively music, beautiful decorations, and mouth-watering smells of delicious Greek food instantly told me that the Greek fest would be a wonderful place. I spent most of the time exploring the various vendor stalls, and smelling the delicious food. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as the Greek music played. I even had the opportunity to learn about the Greek church. The highlight of my experience was witnessing beautiful paintings in the church, a traditional Greek church custom. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd just showed how amazing it is, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy. Greek Fest was not only a wonderful place to be, but also, a place full of excitement. It is also a celebration of Greek heritage and community. I left the festival with a happy stomach, a heart filled with joy, and an experience I will never forget.

Can it be! Can it be? The year just keeps moving forward and here we are in the season of Autumn. The attire has changed, and I'm still wearing my flip-flops!

I am taken to the verse above and I am awakened to the fact that we are all given the same amount of time, same amount of hours and minutes each day! Yet I don't know about you, but it seems there are those that just "seem" to have more time than I. Some of us seem to accomplish more within a time period than others. What gives? We live in a "zoom-zoom" world, and yet all that is zooming is the "tik-tok" of the minutes in time in the high speed internet, while my tasks are just mounting up to a hill of what seems like fallen dried leaves. How did this happen, and where do I begin to tend to the clean-up of all these areas? Well, how do you bite the big elephant?.... one bite at a time.

I think Mark Twain said it best, "The secret to getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one."

The difference between Starring and Starting is a "t". Time is precious. May the plans God has for your life be fulfilled without self-delay. May whatever you set your mind to, you do it with purpose in the time allotted. May you enjoy the view in the journey as you determine within yourself to move forward. May the falling of leaves, be the reminder of the season filled with the beauty of Autumn, and not the "fall" of a moment lost in time. What is your season and what is the purpose given under the heaven?
